Inspiration and sensible advice from Amelia Earhart

image

Amelia Earhart was raised with an unusual unisex attitude – I mean that her mother didn’t try to pigeon hole her 2 daughters in to being girlie girls. They were allowed to develop their personalities naturally.

Amelia saw an air show and decided that she wanted to do that and so, she did!

She was born in Kansas in 1897 and was officially declared officially dead in 1939, two years after going missing over the Pacific Ocean, whilst trying to fly around the world.

She was the first female aviator to do a solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean and she wrote a book on her experiences.

Here is a great visual about Amelia from #infographicbox.

Although she didn’t survive to be an old lady, she did live the life she wanted to live and her famous quote “The most effective way to do it is to do it.” is great sensible advice that we, well at least I speak for myself, need to remember. I often think and worry about doing something more time than it actually takes to finally do it.

Thankyou Amelia and Thankyou to her mother Amy, who although her own mother disagreed with  her treating her daughters equal to boys, she gave them a wonderful mind set which I truly admire.

Now, I’m off to read more about Amelia. Feeling positive and ready to actually do things.

  1. Awesome! Way to go for celebrating who we are and what we love, and for taking action, even if it’s a huge and scary step into the unknown and especially if it’s not been done before!!!!
Thanks for sharing the inspiration. xx

One of the most mind triggering quotes I’ve read. This post led me to go onto read about her history and accomplishments and I can tell you- She’s a real inspiration for a lot of people!

She has given so many awesome inspirational quotes as well aside from the ones mentioned here.

  3. Love this! She was the original inspiration for my name. My parents wanted names from strong women for their daughters. I’ve always been fascinated with her story and what she stood for. Not the best female pilot of her time, but she broke the most ground and opened many doors not only for women but for commercial aviation. Her birthplace museum was a treat to visit.
